By 1965, the family was selling their fresh seafood in the French Market of New Orleans. However, Anthony Junior and his wife Barbara decided it was time to introduce Mama Annie’s dishes to the Big Easy. They purchased the restaurant on the corner of Decatur and St. Philip Streets, which had been running strong for over 150 years. Their Creole-style seafood and spicy dishes quickly gained popularity with locals and travelers alike by 1975. They acquired the bar next door, which doubled the size of the restaurant, and The Original French Market Restaurant & Bar became a mainstay of New Orleans cuisine.
